Meet Vuna CV

Vuna CV is a platform that allows users to create free editable CV’s and search for jobs from their mobile phone via the Vuna CV app. With South Africa’s high unemployment rate, Vuna CV aims to address the traditional job-hunting systematic impediments that prevent people from entering the job market.  

THE FOUNDER AND OPPORTUNITY

Growing up in Langa Township (situated in Cape Town), Siviwe Madlebe the founder of the Vuna CV, became aware of how expensive it is to look for a job. Siviwe decided to take action and created the Vuna CV app to tackle this problem. Vuna CV is currently in the iterative phase of developing an MVP and aims to curb unemployment, especially amongst the youth, by reducing the cost of job hunting through offering inexpensive tech-related solutions. Siviwe’s main objective through all his endeavours is to enrich and empower his community by creating opportunities for them. The creation of Vuna is the natural progression towards his innate inclination to serve others. 

LEARNINGS 

Since starting Vuna CV, Siviwe has come across several learnings.  He has become more aware of the stumbling blocks that job seekers encounter when looking for a job, and has found that job seekers face high job-hunting costs and spend too much time devoted to inefficient ways of job hunting. Siviwe has also developed a better understanding of its customer profile as well as why certain high-tech features in a product, as fancy as they may be, are not necessarily what customers are looking for. 

KEY THOUGHTS

Siviwe’s biggest accomplishment as an entrepreneur is helping people in need, especially unemployed graduates, who have been/are close to losing hope and the motivation to find their dream job. Since working on Vuna hope is being revived within him but more so for the clients he has already worked with. 

THE OPPORTUNITY & WHAT IS NEXT FOR VUNA? 

South Africa has approximately 10 million unemployed people between the ages of 15 to 35 (millennials born in the tech era). A platform like Vuna CV App is needed more than ever to help job seekers find placement in different industries especially with the rate of unemployment increases due to the effects of COVID-19. With an estimation of 7 million job losses, if the major industries are not opened up by the end of the year, it is the Vuna CV app platform that will give job seekers the help they need to present themselves as best as they can.  Practically speaking, Vuna CV is currently working on outlining its processes in order to scale up and give its users the best experience when searching and applying for a job.
