Tshepiso Malema, a 20-year old University of Pretoria (UP) student, is already a motivational speaker and award-winning entrepreneur. He is using his skills and passion to increase computer literacy in some of Johannesburg’s most densely populated townships.

The third-year Bachelor of Information Systems student founded Gamer’s Territory – a space where young people in his home of Ivory Park, Johannesburg, can learn about computers, gaming, and coding; take typing and robotics classes; and get their first exposure to virtual reality technology.

His goal for 2023 is to scale his gaming spaces to mobile spaces that can go to schools, malls and festivals, providing access to township youth anywhere. He is busy raising funds with his co-founder for my computing and gaming equipment while in the long term, looking to raise enough money to buy and customize a Quantum minibus into a mobile gaming. He is also currently building edutainment games on his online gaming marketplace.
