Syked raises funding to scale across SA

FSAT Labs alumni startup, Syked, raises an undisclosed seed investment round to scale operations across South Africa and expand its offering.

Cape Town, 16 September 2020 – FSAT Labs is excited to announce that one of our season 5 alumni startups, Syked, has successfully raised a seed investment round from HaloCare.

After winning the mental health challenge in 2019 at AfricArena, Syked has seen tremendous growth in the last few months. COVID-19 has put telemedicine in the spotlight with more people looking for alternative ways of seeking counselling support that they can access without putting themselves at risk. Syked, being an online wellness platform, provides a full turnkey solution that connects clients with suitable qualified practitioners which responds to this very need. All of this is done through secure video consultation with many additional features for clients that guides them on their emotional support journey.

Syked has successfully raised a seed investment round from HaloCare. The funds will be used to build out Syked’s operations and tech development teams. The new investment round will enable Syked to further capitalize on its position as a leader in the online counselling and coaching industry in South Africa where Covid-19 and its implications has seen a surge in demand for online counseling. Expanding its mobile product and strengthening its B2B offering is key for Syked who has managed to secure almost 3000 paid sessions since its launch in 2019.

We are extremely excited to close this round as it allows us to grow our team and capture the telemedicine market. As a young health tech company, we’re looking forward to this new partnership as we now have access to HaloCare, a managed care organization that specializes in comprehensive disease management services. The partnership further enables us to leverage the group’s experience in servicing funders for the past 31 years. We now look forward to rolling out more features and improving on our current offering.
